Edenix for Universities, ITIs and Polytechnics

One capital item that serves several departments at once — and keeps running an experiment when nobody is in the lab.

One Machine, Four Departments

Most lab equipment serves one syllabus. This is the procurement argument for Edenix, and it is worth making first: a single capital item at ₹4,99,000 including GST that four departments can timetable against is a materially different proposition to four separate purchases.

Mechanical

Cartesian kinematics, three-axis motion, belts and leadscrews, structure and deflection, tolerance and repeatability.

Electronics

Stepper motors with rotary encoders, drivers, the controller, power budgets, sensor interfacing and calibration.

Computer science

Sequence and regimen logic, coordinate systems, the REST API, control libraries, data logging and computer vision basics.

Agriculture and horticulture

Soil composition and moisture, germination and spacing, irrigation science, Indian crop calendars, controlled experiment design.

Research and Capstone Use

Repeatability is what makes the machine useful for research rather than demonstration. The tool head returns to a commanded coordinate to ±1 mm, so a trial can be re-run under the same geometry across a season, or across cohorts.

Controlled trials

Vary one factor — spacing, watering interval, depth — and hold the rest constant, because the machine does not get bored or approximate.

Logged sensor data

Soil moisture readings and camera captures accumulate against plant coordinates rather than against a notebook.

REST API access

Students build their own tooling and integrations against the API rather than being limited to the supplied app.

Framework Alignment

Every lesson carries its alignment on the header, so the mapping work is already done for your department. NEP 2020 experiential and multidisciplinary learning; AICTE laboratory and capstone outcomes; NSQF practical competency units for ITIs and polytechnics; ICAR agronomy, soil science and experiential learning components.

Specific chapter and competency codes are completed against your programme and syllabus year by our curriculum reviewer rather than printed here, because boards revise them and a stale code in a lesson plan is worse than none. See the curriculum.

Cost per Student

A one-time ₹4,99,000 including GST, across a ten-year service life, works out between roughly ₹832 per student at 60 students a year and ₹125 at 400 — a shared first-year lab sits at the low end, a single elective at the high end.

These are estimates built on stated assumptions, not a promise. The full working, including what changes if you take the AMC, is on the cost per student page. We do not publish a payback period, because for a bed this size it would not be defensible.
